BRITISH INTERNATIONALS 2006: ENGLAND WIN BOTH MEN'S AND WOMEN'S EVENTS

Wales hosted the 2006 BDO British International Championships  in the weekend of the 8th and the 9th april at the Rhydycar Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil – and for the first time ever all the top action was televised by Eurosport 2.

The fiercely competitive and exciting annual clash between the home team darts rivals of Wales, England and Scotland, will see the host nation Men’s team captained by Martin Phillips who, having already won 74 caps as a Welsh International, was now only three away from equalling the all time appearance record of 77 caps held by the late, great Leighton Rees. England was captained by Martin Adams and Scotland by Mike Veitch.

This was the 27th staging of the BDO British Internationals, which have been played annually since 1979. England Men have been triumphant for five consecutive years, and this record is sure to give an extra edge to the combative attitudes of Wales, as the host nation, as well as the ‘old enemy’ Scotland – both of whom are keen to end the England run.

Pictures from the British Internationals 2006

there was a lot of emotion! Again a match for Wales   All the pressure on Waites Again a titel for England and the captain was happy
